A sense of shared responsibility and optimism filled Perry Hall High during the town hall meeting with Dr. Myriam Yarbrough, the newly appointed Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent. The event was attended by diverse individuals, including state and county elected officers, board members, parents, faculty staff, and community members. Each of these stakeholders came together with a shared interest in the future of our 111,000 students and the ongoing growth of the school district.
During the meeting, Dr. Yarbrough outlined her priority areas for the school district. At the forefront of her agenda are boosting academic achievement, improving school infrastructure, ensuring safety and a positive school climate, and fostering the development of highly effective teachers and leaders.
Dr. Yarbrough stated, “Our success will be built upon these four pillars. They will guide our decisions, shape our policies, and inspire our collective efforts. Ensuring high levels of academic achievement, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, strengthening our infrastructure, and nurturing the growth of our educators and leaders are the cornerstones of my vision for BCPS.”
Delegate Dr. Bhandari was among the attendees who admired Dr. Yarbrough’s holistic leadership style. “Dr. Yarbrough’s commitment to our students, faculty, and community is inspiring,” he said. “Her experience as an educator and a mother, coupled with her leadership skills, makes her the perfect individual to guide our school district.”
Dr. Yarbrough, who began her tenure as Superintendent on July 1, 2023, initiated the town hall meetings to engage the community and understand the school system’s strengths and areas for improvement. With a distinguished career, numerous awards, and a passion for education, she is prepared to lead Baltimore County Public Schools into a new era of success.
The town hall meeting serves as a platform for all stakeholders to voice their concerns, share their thoughts, and help shape the future of all Baltimore County Public School students.
